Created from the remnants of the group Stampei Amsterdam, De Dijk did during the first Dutch-wave early eighties his first fame to gather. Bleeding Heart was the first single when the rock and soul of the band came to fruition. The American-style music was given an extra dimension by the metropolitan, romantic lyrics of frontman Huub van der Lubbe. Among the top groups heard Embankment, which is… named after the infamous Amsterdam street, the promenade, not then. It was only years later, when the group passage endlessly to have gained a loyal following, which translated into more and better sales for albums and the first real top 40 hit in 1987 (Mag Light Off).
Together with The Scene Embankment belonged to the ancestors of the Dutch second wave in the nineties. But many of the great names of that time (Volumia !, The Closet) knew Embankment ultimately survive. Through regular sabbatical in welding managed to prevent the tape that he got into a rut.
