Canadian singer, producer, (film) composer and multi-instrumentalist (harp, piano, accordion) Loreena McKennitt has released her first live album through her own label Quinlan Road. It records the concerts held at the Salle Pleyel in Paris and the Massey Hall in Toronto during the 1998 spring tour, where McKennitt and her fellow musicians played songs from the hit album "The Book of Secrets". Usually
… a live recording, compared to a studio recording, gives extra 'cachet' to music. Similarly in this case. McKennitt's eclectic and totally individual Celtic, world beat, pop and folk sound is very atmospheric and inspired. McKennitt has a beautiful voice, musical talent and she has gathered a very good group of musicians around her, including Brian Hughes (guitar, old), Steve Lucas (electric bass) and Hugh Marsh (violin). Proceeds from this album will go to charity. (SvdP)more
