In 1968 the American psychedelic rock group The Doors released the album Waiting For The Sun, their third in just a year and a half. Shortly before its release, they took to the stage of The Hollywood Bowl. The entire concert was filmed and recorded and is the definitive live document of this legendary band. … hanging from the microphone in his leather pants. But he is also visibly under the influence, makes a drowsy impression especially in the beginning and does not always take things seriously. He also seems to put more inspiration into his spoken poetry texts than in Doors classics such as The End and Light My Fire. Nevertheless, this one, In terms of image and sound, a beautifully polished version of the well-known concert is a beautiful document of a unique and influential group. A film that both nourishes and undermines the legendary status of Morrison, who died much too young, and brings The Doors back to life, for a while. (MR)more
