Jasper Steverlinck was eliminated for almost a year. The Belgian singer was ill: he had been struck down by toxoplasmosis, similar to mononucleosis, which caused him to do nothing. After the successful cover album Songs Of Innocence (2004) and a subsequent tour, Arid singer Steverlinck once ill had little choice but to sit at home and cancel all his announced performances for 2005. As he said in an
… interview: 'From playing the piano for half an hour, I had to recover for two days'. It wasn't until September 2005 that he could appear on stage for the first time again. It is therefore not surprising that all three performances on this DVD were recorded in 2004, and the repertoire is also known. In Brussels, at Rock Werchter and in the studio he played songs from his CD Songs Of Innocence, consisting of covers by Elton John, Labi Siffre and Bob Dylan. And just as with that CD, it applies to this DVD: you have to love Steverlinck's voice and delivery, otherwise the amount of pathos can quickly become too much. (IV)more
