On her sixth album The Birth Of Violence, the American Chelsea Wolfe has found the light in the darkness. She does not enclose the listener in total darkness this time. Each singer-songwriter's album seemed to get a little heavier and more downcast. After his more doom-leaning (2017), this time she wraps her emotions in an acoustic sound. Thus Wolfe returns to the folky and gothic style of earlier
… work. She locked herself up at home to write the songs and, just like on her albums (2011) , she went (2013) in search of beauty that can hide in darkness. This more introverted approach ensures that the tension keeps bubbling under the surface throughout the album. Wolfe's thin voice fits perfectly with the predominantly dragging character of this album. (JvQ)more
