The famous mockumentary Spinal Tap, about the fortunes of an aging rock group, borrowed much from Status Quo's history. This British band also started in the 1960s as a lovely flower power band, with the single Picture Of Matchstick Men as their feat. After a number of lean years, the quartet reinvented itself in the early 1970s as a straightforward rock band with classics such as Down Down and Roll
… Over Lay Down. The group around guitarists and singers and suffered a blinking light in the years that followed, until the latter suddenly passed away in 2017. Rossi formed a new line-up, but with that returns more than ever to the boogie-rock of their heyday. Backbone has the same momentum and simplicity as' 70s hit albums such as(1973) and (1977). It is almost unimaginable how Rossi still manages to find inspiration and variation in this formula, with the remarkably sleek and fresh Backbone as a result. (MR)more
