Roberto Di Melo Santos was born in Recife in 1949. Despite a very modest discography, he is considered one of the icons of Brazilian soul. He only needed one album for that. This record with the same name as the singer became an instant hit and nowadays is sold for a little godly at shops specializing in obscure vinyl. French jazz funk band Cotonete, which has been on the road since 2004, toured
… Brazil in 2017 and was eager to collaborate with great Brazilian artists such as or Edd Motta. However, their technician had a better idea and put them in touch with Di Melo who still had just under 400 numbers on the shelf. The band started arranging and Atemporal was recorded after five days. The result has become particularly versatile. Brazilian funk and disco, festive samba and deep ballads are reviewed. Hopefully more productions will follow from the Di Melo archive. (AD)more
