The American former street band The Felice Brothers has always been good at reflecting broad American culture. They did this like before The Band, with influences that run from country to rock 'n' roll, folk rock and even party music. The friendly atmosphere that this brought with it on albums like (2014) or (2009) has now made way for a grimmer whole. On Undress, The Felice Brothers signal America's
… decline under Trump's presidency. This is done with cynical and caustic texts in which money and power always go together. Also musically the group, led by Ian and James Felice, sounds fiercer and stronger than ever. The catchy Salvation Army Girl is even reminiscent of 's American power pop . The message they bring and the suffering they signal may be bitter, but it does yield one of their stronger and more urgent albums. (MR)more
