You cannot blame Steve van Zandt for not making new material since 1999. After all, he has since played leading roles in the series The Sopranos and Lilyhammer. He is also a member of 's , a popular deejay and passionate activist. At Summer Of Sorcery he finally returns with his own band Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. He has built up a lot of inspiration over the decades which translates
… into an energetic and enthusiastic album. Sixty-something Van Zandt wanted to capture the feeling of being young; of first (love) experiences and discover music. He translates this into fat sixties soul, rhythm & blues and latin, wrapped in the massive bombast of a -production. Sometimes this is reminiscent of Born To Run, that great and romantic album from 1975 by Springsteen that Van Zandt played on. Not innovative music, but this newfound youth of Little Steven certainly makes a shimmer. (MR)more
