'When I turn 35 I will retire'. Lil Wayne had announced it many times in interviews and now seems to be doing it. He's also accomplished a lot since debuting at the age of 16. His lazy southern rap style was also imitated by rappers outside of New Orleans, launching the careers of and and made the facial tattoo socially acceptable. In his own words, Tha Carter V, his twelfth album, is his last. He
… has four children and he wants to spend more time on them. Family plays a big role on this album anyway. His daughter sings along well on the song Famous and his mother declares in the opening track how much she loves her son. Emotional and over the top? Yes, but that's Lil Wayne. Most of the album was already recorded in 2014, but after a lot of hassle with his label, it is released four years later. Should he indeed quit, 'Weezy' will give his fans enough material to chew on with this one and a half hour (!) Long album. (PdK)more
