World Wide Funk opens in a traditional P-funk way with a treatise on Bootsy Collins who would have lived through the days of the dinosaurs. Madness everywhere, in a festive way combined with P-funk chaos. But it's not just chaos that counts. Admittedly, there are enough songs on the album where it seems as if everyone is mixed up in the studio, doing their own thing all the time. But that's the
… power of the P-Funk universe. Fortunately, there are also plenty of really cool funk songs to be found on World Wide Funk, which considerably increases the listening pleasure. Furthermore, three ballads in the style of Bootsy's biggest hit I'd Rather Be With You, and a tribute to P-Funk keyboardist Bernie Worell, who passed away in 2016. The highlight of the CD is a bass battle between Bootsy, and Victor Wooten. Collins once again shows that he is still one of the most important bass players in the funk world. (AD)more
