Grizzly Bear remains an elusive band. The New York quartet has been making ingenious indie rock since 2002. Their albums are full of quality pop, but are also a bit exchangeable. Third record (2009) was brought in as a masterpiece, while all other records are just as good. The group has kept the attention of the press and public for years and yet you have the idea that there is more to it. Their
… songs are like a train hurtling past a crowded platform. Some people are shocked, some don't even notice it anymore. But all things considered, it remains a fine piece of technology every time. And so it is with Painted Ruins, Grizzly Bear's fifth album. It's a damn nice indie record on which all kinds of puzzle pieces come together beautifully.
