With his debut album (2013) singer / songwriter Tom Odell immediately broke through to the general public. Even a devastating review in music magazine NME (which called his album 'musical syphilis') didn't change that. Odell is the type of artist, like and , provokes strong reactions. Loved by many, but because of the mild character of his music, many dismissed it as flat, boring and predictable.
Anyway, the title track with which the singer opens his second album is immediately an earwig. Odell not only sings the chorus, he also whistles it and try to get that whistle out of your head. Odell is the common denominator of what is popular in 2016: a little folk, a pinch of soul, a good dash of stadium rock, but above all a lot of passionate singer / songwriter pop. The many listeners who picked up Odell's debut are not disappointed by the young Brit with Wrong Crowd. (PdK)more
