Of the male-female duos that have been on the slipstream of since 2000 - , - The Kills has always been the coolest. The nicknames of the American singer Alison Mosshart and the English guitarist Jamie Hince alone: VV and Hotel. … not stood still, but Mosshart (37) and Hince (47) have, according to album number five. Ash & Ice (another tough title) opens with two very rusty blues rockers, who make you fear the worst. The worst, however, is yet to come through the worn piano ballad That Love, which prompted my girlfriend to ask 'is this ?' She's not exactly a music connoisseur, but the point is clear. Fortunately, The Kills come back in between, in cool songs like Hard Habit To Break, Bitter Fruit and Siberian Nights. So next time just select a bit stricter. Short CDs are so cool. (RME)more
