New Orleans is a special place, a city where belief is in the air. For example, there is the belief in the 'roux-ga-roux', a kind of werewolf, once sung by Dr. John. New Orleans is also in the air on the title track of this fifth DeWolff studio album. The three young men of DeWolff transform, as if by magic, into a mean rocking combo from the dirtiest streets of New Orleans. would nod in agreement.
DeWolff has it, that much is clear when hearing Roux-Ga-Roux. Where on their earlier albums the group could sometimes sound like a successful imitation of their famous examples, the Limburg trio mainly sounds like themselves. Psychedelics, blues, rock and prog melt together in an impressive way. All this delivered with a tough southern swinging nonchalance. The album is also recorded completely analog, which only benefits DeWolff's sound. (PdK)more
