A quarter of a century of singing at a high level has changed Marco Borsato. The popular singer can look back with satisfaction on 25 years in the spotlight in 2015. For a long time his career seemed to have nothing but highlights. The last period may have been a bit more hectic with bankruptcy and physical problems, but that has only made him stronger. And calmer, because Borsato now also enjoys
… all the little things in life. His tenth Dutch-language album has not been given the title Balance for nothing. Borsato does not break new ground and resides in the style we know of him. Vocally he still plays a lot on the 11 songs and yet there seems to be more reflection. The songs - written by right-hand man John Ewbank and producer Gordon Groothedde - are about feelings that everyone recognizes. Universal themes such as love, wonder, regret and loss have been sung by Borsato before, but never before so extensively. Clichés are not shunned, but the singer is sincere. (JE)more
