As The Tallest Man On Earth, Swede Kristian Matsson has been active since the mid-noughties. Partly through the authoritative Pitchfork, Europe and America opened up to him. Also during his successful performances in the Netherlands it turned out to be an amiable performer with Dylaneske acoustic guitar songs to which he gives a personal and sometimes whimsical twist. He recorded his albums at home
… or at someone else's home. On his fourth album Dark Bird Is Home, this man from provincial Sweden (Dalarna) has become a world citizen. Not only did he write his songs everywhere and nowhere in the world, but for the first time he is also accompanied by a band. That continues to sound modest and intimate with, for example, strings and brass and the beautiful second voice of Mike Noyce. The leading role remains for Matsson with his plucking acoustic guitar and his introverted songs. (MR)more
