Billie Joe Armstrong may be known to many as the rugged frontman of Green Day, but he has a great love for americana. For some time he was looking for a partner to cover work by The Everly Brothers - an important source of inspiration for him. He found his striking other half for the project in the form of jazz singer Norah Jones. At first sight a curious duo that seems to have little in common.
But the collaboration is working out particularly well. For nine days they locked themselves in a recording studio in Manhattan to give the work of The Everly Brothers a unique contemporary touch. With their warm harmony vocals, Joe and Jones easily match the charm of the original tracks from the fifties and sixties. Foreverly is a journey back in time and the duo shows that songs like Roving Gambler, Who's Gonna Shoe Your Little Pretty Feet and Long Time Gone shine in timelessness. (BvdV)more
