Dana Fuchs has already had quite a bit of suffering in her life. Her oldest sister committed suicide when she was nineteen and her brother Don died of a brain tumor in 2011. She has processed the sad period beautifully in the heartbreaking So Hard To Move, one of the most beautiful songs on Bliss Avenue. Fuchs seems to have given the death of her brother - partly with that song - a place, because
… on the other eleven blues rock tracks the American rocks as ever. From the title and opening track, the throttle is full on. On most of the songs you can hear a traditionally passionate Fuchs, who as she makes more albums in terms of sound, more and more resembles . Especially on the -like track How Did Things Get This Way and on Daddy's Loves The Life you can hear the similarity well. Yet it is not those rock songs, but the emotional So Hard To Move with which Fuchs will be able to touch the music lover. (BvdV)more
