Rapper Nicki Minaj was born in Trinidad & Tobago and raised in New York. Her parents were constantly in each other's hair and that contributed to a hectic childhood. In order to escape she took on all kinds of fantasy personalities and they still leave their mark. One of those aliases is Barbie Bitch. On the cover of Minaj's debut album, we also see her as a doll, who radiates sex in a scary
… way. It scares us. On Pink Friday we get to know all the alter egos that the female rapper has developed over the years. Artists like Kanye West swear by her skills as an MC and those are certainly to be reckoned with, but lyrically Nicki sometimes gets tired of it. She is especially notable for her aggressive and sometimes downright scary vocals. We are most impressed with alter ego Roman Zolanski, because on the track Roman's Revenge, one of the highlights of Pink Friday, she shows her much-discussed skills as a rapper and we begin to understand why she sees herself as a monster. It's a pity that the majority of the album tends to be more r & b. (GL)more
