The world has a large number of singer / songwriters who all want the same thing. A guitar, a hat from H&M and a mysterious photo for the MySpace page. Then they take a beard, an old-fashioned jacket and a pedal steel player in the band. Et voila. Another singer / songwriter ready for the big stages. Fortunately, most of them don't get further than the mysterious photo on the Myspace page,
… forgetting to be able to write good songs. Jeffrey Foucault lives up to this stereotypical image of the singer / songwriter, but his songs are so good. Where Foucault's previous records were a bit more blues, Horse Latitudes, his sixth internationally released record, sounds like a real americana record. The CD was produced by himself and the musicians and has a great sound. That just goes to show that Bo Ramsey or T-Bone Burnett are not always needed behind the buttons. With Horse Latitudes, Foucault delivers a Grammy-worthy record with ten songs that grab you by the throat and don't let you go until the last note. (SI)more
