Music means a lot to Jeroen van der Boom. Presenting and judging on television is fun, but it's the music that drives him. The title of his latest CD partly refers to his bride-to-be Dany and partly to his other great love. 'Groot' is also a good description of the album. The quiet beats of the bass drum at the beginning of the CD change into thundering drums in a few seconds, supplemented by sturdy
… guitars and a real string ensemble. The extensive production is in the hands of Han Kooreneef and Arno Krabman. These two men are also responsible for the song material and also play in the backing band. It might take a bit of a stretch to say that Van der Boom only has to sing, but it is clear that he relies heavily on the talent of Kooreneef and Krabman. Certainly Kooreneef can now be gently called an important player in the Dutch pop industry. Within Temptation, Alain Clark and Di-rect already used his services and in that sense Van der Boom has invested in quality. Van der Boom is getting better and better with the comparison with Marco Borsato. (JE)more
