They didn't invent it, but with their catchy rock sound, coupled with a smooth production, Bon Jovi from New Jersey was the perfect stadium act of the eighties. With beautiful boy Jon Bon Jovi as the frontman, the group sold more than ninety million records in its heyday. The Circle is already the eleventh album, but there seems to be no question of growing old age. The group still deals in nice
… rock songs, in which the choruses are sung lustily throughout the band, by way of an invitation to the listener to join in. Yet it is not always 'slippery when wet' on The Circle. In Work For The Working Man, for example, Bon Jovi takes it for the worker who is the victim of the crumbling American dream. In addition, there are of course the power ballads in which Jon, now with an extra grain on the vocal cords, sings about love with passionate outbursts. In short, Bon Jovi hasn't forgotten about new repertoire that mixes well with their hits from yesteryear. (MR)more
