She warned her mom and dad about the promotion campaign for her new album. And indeed, the video clip of She Wolf leaves little to the imagination: a caged Shakira spins smoothly and barely clothed through the screen. Nice song by the way, an unadulterated disco rammer. The title track is in no way reminiscent of the sound of her previous albums. Now and then we run into the old Shakira, but the
… lion's share of She Wolf seems to be inspired by disco and R&B. The Colombian singer has collaborated with The Neptunes (six songs), Wyclef Jean (one funny song in which he also sings along) and John Hill, a talented producer who previously worked with Santogold. Hill's five songs are the highlights of the album. The contributions of The Neptunes contrast a bit lackluster, although the clarinet solo (! ) in Long Time sounds like an exciting and good idea. Shakira is a real superstar. Due to her clever PR campaign and a number of strong songs on this varied album, she will remain so for a while. (PdK)more
