For his fifth artist CD, Tiësto wanted to collaborate with artists he admires. With the clips circulating on YouTube of the man who nowadays attracts up to a quarter of a million visitors to his performances, this shouldn't be a problem. The extensive list of guest vocalists includes Jónsi Birgisson (Sigur Rós), Kele Okereke (Bloc Party), Nelly Furtado, Calvin Harris and Emily Haines (Metric).
Kaleidoscope is therefore a completely different CD than we are used to from the sympathetic Brabander. Instead of the usual formulaic structure in trance, in which string parts lead to a gigantic climax, Tiësto has opted for more song structure this time. His compositions have become a lot simpler with the vocals taking center stage. Each song will be played in trance tempo. Only for Nelly Furtado an exception is made and the pace is slowed down. Under the age-old motto 'the level drops - the mood rises', Tiësto has managed to make his sound even more commercial. (AD)more
