The nervous is a bit off on the second album by the British Infadels, which debuted in 2006 with the typical punk funk album We Are Not The Infadels, and scored a funny novelty hit with Love Like Semtex. Yet even on that fairly stylish debut, there was already a willingness to look beyond the issues of the day. They also proved that these gentlemen are connoisseurs of pop history in the sets they
… provided with their own DJ crew. That knowledge is also revealed in the ideas on this album. The accents of the album opener Circus Of The Mad, for example, seem to be borrowed directly from Radar Love of our own Golden Earring, which is not an obvious source of inspiration for young British bands. And so you can break your head for every song about where you have heard that walk or that sound before. There is no unmistakable own Infadels sound, but a song like Free Things For Poor People does wonders for the mood. (MS)more
