"When I'm dead, spread my ashes throughout the eighties." That quote is from former Van Halen singer David Lee Roth, but that statement can just as well be applied to Def Leppard. Just like Diamond Dave, that group also had mega successes in the eighties. Def Leppard sold more than ten million copies of Pyromania (1983) and Hysteria (1987) each. The last album with their own compositions dates back
… to 2002, but it is known that the quintet always takes the time to work on her albums. Songs From The Sparkle Lounge continues the line for which the group once became famous. The basis of all songs consists of solid rock riffs that are supplemented with harmonious and poppy choruses. Although the group announced not to record any ballads for this album, the symphonic Love with its tear-jerking text is easy to qualify in this way. The group comes out best in the glam rock-like C'mon C'mon and the uptempo rocker Hallucinate. This deluxe version of Songs From The Sparkle Lounge comes with an extra DVD. On the DVD we see the group in the studio and the band members tell extensively about the creation of all the songs on the album. Finally, the video clip for the single Nine Lives has been added.
