One of the most unlikely success stories in recent Dutch music history is in the name of Jeroen van der Boom. This presenter for SBS6 already sang in a band in his student years, but a singing career seemed not to be for him. Until in the summer of 2007 the single Jij Bent Zo, a cover by Silencio (David Bisbal), became an unexpected success. It eventually reached the top of the singles list. The
… successor, One World, also reached the top a few months later. Van Der Boom's debut album, which is named after his breakthrough single, entered the album chart at second. The album fits perfectly into the gap that arose when Marco Borsato decided to only release DVDs. The resemblance to the lyrical pop of the Netherlands' most popular singer does not appear to be entirely coincidental. Not only Borsato's regular lyricist Han Kooreneef contributes, also some members of his backing band make an appearance. (MS)more
