Sixty-two is Van Morrison when this album comes out. We have now lost count, but it is certain that the Irish singer is more productive than ever in the twilight of his career. Keep It Simple brings the counter to five albums in the last six years. New territory was not explored on those records, and sometimes (Magic Time) they were a bit dutiful. … Morrison composed all the songs himself. Of course this time too he draws from the same sources as always (jazz, blues, country, folk, gospel), but especially in his own songs, those influences come together to create something special. Lyrically he adheres to the record's motto formulated by himself. With refreshing simplicity, he tells about love, unrest, desire and music in songs that can be followed by everyone. With an old-fashioned good album as a result. (MS)more
