The first encounter with Anthony Hamilton was through his album Comin 'From Where I'm From (2003), and he was soon seen as an important new' neo soul 'singer. After the album Soullife (2005), with old recordings that had not yet been released, Ain't Nobody Worryin 'is the official successor. And even now it is striking how 'timeless' Hamilton can sound. Unlike most modern R&B or soul, in which
… hip-hop and a lot of electronics are often used, Hamilton's neo soul is really 'neo': it is the 1970s rather than the 21st century that his music is reminiscent of. The warm and organic sound of Ain't Nobody Worryin ', with that old soul in a new guise, is extremely pleasant, and Hamilton's passionate singing - as so often with soul artists, he also started in a church choir - fits well with this. Although love and romance are the main themes, Hamilton usually goes deeper in his lyrics than most of his colleagues. (IV)more
