With the atmospheric debut (1998), the French Air has a real pop classic to its name. What followed could only be disappointing and it did. After the experimental electronics of (2001) and the pretentious reading album (2003) Air on Talkie Walkie is finally doing what it does best again: deceptively simple pop songs with an ambient vibe. … this time many songs were sung by Air members Dunckel and Godin themselves. The addictive melodies and supercooled synthesizer arrangements have returned. What at first appears as harmless muzak almost unnoticeably occupies the space and mood of the listener. It is gently drawn into a world that is warm and clinical at the same time. The combination of calming and ominous qualities makes Air's music, especially the first half of the CD, completely unique. (MS)more
