It seems a bit early for a career overview of these three singing sisters and a brother. The Netherlands therefore decided relatively late - with the single Breathless in 2000 - for the MOR pop of the Irish. By that time, the Celtic influences (and especially Sharon Corr's violin) had already been pushed into the background to make way for catchy pop that was somewhat reminiscent of American groups
… like Wilson Phillips. In its homeland, the group has been among the absolute top since the release of its debut album Forgiven, Not Forgotten in 1996. And listening to The Best Of The Corrs you will be amazed that it took so long for the great success in the Netherlands. The songs all have an irresistible hookline so you immediately sing them along. The Corrs may miss a powerful lead singer, but they know how to mask that well thanks to the neat harmony vocals. There is little to criticize about the music of the Corrs, only that she suffers from the same problem as the appearance of the sisters. Very nice, but it doesn't really turn you on. (MS)more
