During a practical anatomy, medicine student Renske Taminiau spontaneously felt the need to write a song about it. She also immediately registered at the conservatory. In this way, a future doctor transformed into a promising singer, which may have meant a loss for the medical world, but an enormous asset to Dutch music. Renske Taminiau is a fantastic vocalist with a very clear sounding voice. With
… her appealing mix of jazz, pop and singer / songwriter, she is entering the same field as the successful Room Eleven. Fortunately, she carefully avoids the old-fashionedness that characterizes this group from time to time. Taminiau gained experience as a background singer with Mathilde Santing and at the Wicked Jazz Sounds sessions. For her first CD Waiting To Be Told, she spent some time in a summerhouse in Zeeland to write eleven varied songs there. Together with her band members, she gave these striking arrangements with occasional room for a string quartet, bass clarinet or horn. Waiting To Be Told is a very beautiful and fun CD, which, as an extra, offers a drum & bass-like track produced by Perquisite. (HB)more
