With a title like Dansé Dansé, New Cool Collective offers us a very danceable CD. The opening track Snowball does not disappoint. Starting with a loud drum roll, this piece is reminiscent of the interpretation of African music as performed by the English band in the eighties. Festivity everywhere. After that it unfortunately goes downhill quickly in terms of danceability. Lots of African sounds
… with disco influences with expiration dates in the distant past, or vice versa. That is not so much due to the musical capacities of the members of NCC, because they excel as always. No, it is the production that fails and makes the band seem very sluggish. Perhaps it is time for the guys from NCC to hire a producer for such future projects who has more vision about what goes on on a dance floor. (AD)more
