Bedrock is not only the home of Fred Flintstone, but also the name of pianist Uri Caine's electronic trio. Caine is assisted in this by bassist / guitarist Tim Lefebvre and drummer Zach Danziger. Guest roles are played by singer Barbara Walker and percussionist Elizabeth Pupo-Walker. Plastic Temptation really shoots in all directions. The opening of the funky Overture turns into the heavy jazz rock
… (with an emphasis on rock) of Prelude For Sheldon, and then degenerates into the electronic chaos of Noid, which is followed by the soul of Roll With It. Count Duke is a tribute to Duke Ellington, put in a solid jazz dance groove. Riled Up enters the chaotic universe of Squarepusher to continue in the traditional blues of Till You Come Back To Me. Plastic Temptation, for example, is constantly jumping from one topic to another, from rich musical tradition to completely insane experimental chaos. Not every listener will be able to handle this, but Plastic Temptation still offers a very special listening experience. (AD)more
