August 2006, an important music process took place in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, which is heavily secured by attendants. The Syndicate of violinist Jeffrey Bruinsma was right there. It was not his first conviction: the jury of the Deloitte Jazz Award once called him a very communicative and creative musician and praised his beautifully composed solos and passionate performance. Bruinsma was in
… Amsterdam and The Hague conservatory circles before he started his Bruinsma Syndicate with supporters such as Jesse van R. (with guitar case; we know what fits in there), Martijn V. (good at hitting and tapping) and tough guy Gulli G. (known of his ties with Eric Vloeimans). Afra Mussawisade was also recruited to deliver extra blows. It should be clear that we are dealing with a perfectly coordinated group with a special sound of pounding grooves and intergalactic soundscapes. They do not shy away from the use of weaponry such as wahwahs, ring modulators and echoplex delays. The judgment was therefore 'guilty of beautiful music', with the additional task of proclaiming it publicly through CDs and performances. (HB)more
