The name Paul Brown has been a guarantee for a large number of hits in the smooth jazz world for years. This guitarist knows better than anyone how the genre works and, as a producer, throws up one hit after the other. With White Sand he thought it was time to make a duet CD. To this end, he invited his favorite artists including singers Al Jarreau and Bobby Caldwell, saxophonists Boney James and
… Euge Groove, keyboardist David Benoit and trumpet player Rick Braun. In doing so, he used the classic Quincy Jones approach whose productions were so seamless that the individual performances of the musicians initially made it impossible to realize what he was actually doing. White Sand shows that this approach also works for Paul Brown and sounds like a streamlined whole where every musician feels like a fish in water. Again a smooth jazz topper. (AD)more
