It will come as no surprise that Nomy Rosenberg, the youngest member of the Rosenberg family, also specializes in gypsy jazz. In the accompanying CD booklet is written about a seven-year-old Nomy who, with a comparatively huge guitar on his lap, does his very best to keep up with his five-year older brother Jimmy. Already with the second song it becomes clear that he clings to the genre less forcefully
… than the rest of his blood relatives who do everything they can to keep the gypsy jazz alive. With My Bossa, Reily and Miro Tata Mimer, he allows himself small trips to bossa nova and shows that the obligatory finger exercises to become an accomplished gypsy guitarist can also be used to bring Brazilian music to an even more swinging result. Summertime also gets a similar arrangement, with the difference that the solo moves at a lightning-fast gypsy tempo. This variation certainly benefits the listening pleasure. (AD)more
