Guitarist / vocalist Jimmie Vaughan is known to most people as the older brother of guitar virtuoso Stevie Ray Vaughan, who died prematurely. However, it is not entirely fair to see him only as 'brother-of', because his own musical career is also quite impressive. Already in 1974 he started the blues rock formation The Fabulous Thunderbirds together with singer / harmonica player Kim Wilson. With
… this band he recorded a total of seven albums, of which Tuff Enuff from 1986 was the most successful. In the meantime, however, Jimmie had been overtaken by his younger brother in terms of popularity and frustrated he left the band in 1989. The two brothers decided to make a CD together under the name The Vaughan Brothers and called the result Family Style (1990). As is known, Stevie Ray Vaughan died not much later in a helicopter crash. Jimmy made his first solo CD Strange Pleasures in 1994, followed by Out There in 1998. On these albums he showed that as a guitarist he could do considerably more than the hard blues rock violence of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. His third solo album is called Do You Get The Blues? and again contains pleasant, traditional and intimate blues. Among the musicians we find well-known (session) names such as bassist Roscoe Beck and keyboardist Bill Willis. However, the show is mostly stolen by Lou Ann Barton who provides the beautiful lead vocals on The Power Of Love and In The Middle Of The Night.
