Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Gary Moore had his greatest commercial success with 1990's Still Got The Blues. (1999) he experimented with drum computers and other electronics. Those last records were not very successful and since a musician has to pay the rent, there is now a new CD with the all-telling title Back To The Blues. With the strong opening track Enough Of The Blues, Gary Moore
… immediately makes a statement: down with the acoustic guitars, long live the electronic blues. He shows that he is not only a fantastic guitarist, but also a very good singer. The subsequent songs You Upset Me Baby and Cold Black Night are wonderfully rocking blues songs, in which the whole band except Moore can let off steam. Halfway through the CD has a pause in the form of the instrumental The Prophet and the ballad Picture Of The Moon, with which he could match the single success of Still Got The Blues. He should have left out the umpteenth cover of Stormy Monday (T-Bone Walker), but otherwise we can only be happy that Gary Moore is back in the blues. Welcome back Gary! (MvP) Welcome back Gary!
