Bebel Gilberto surprised many music lovers with her debut. On Tanto Tempo (2000), the singer did not seem to suffer from the famous parent syndrome. On the contrary, today João Gilberto is sometimes even referred to as the father-of-Bebel. As on her previous two albums, Momento is a collection of carefully arranged bossa nova compositions. Gilberto flew around the world during the writing and
… recording of Momento. In London she worked with producer Guy Sigsworth. In Rio, the singer recorded a song with the nineteen-piece Orquestra Imperial and in her hometown New York, Bebel worked together with the producer duo Brazilian Girls. At Momento you can hear nothing of the hectic pace of these world cities. The songs fit better with a sunrise on a deserted Brazilian beach. As a soundtrack to an afternoon stretched out on the couch at home, Momento is also doing fine. (PdK)more
