… Brasileira Album. Gilberto thought it was important to make a statement with her name and that's why Bebel Gilberto is the title of her second album. The album was produced by Marius de Vries, producer of albums by Madonna, Björk and Annie Lennox. Even more than on her debut album, the focus is on Gilberto's warm, hoarse singing voice wrapped in an organic blanket of acoustic instruments. You only hear electronic elements sporadically. Gilberto has grown as a songwriter: she is the (co-) composer of nine of the twelve songs. The songs, sung alternately in English and Portuguese, contain beautiful melodies, beautiful harmonies and intimate lyrics. Bebel Gilberto listens like an endless daydream. (SvdP)more
