Oliver Mtukudzi is one of the most famous artists from Zimbabwe. Unlike his old bandmate Thomas Mapfumo, he still lives in the African country, because he never strongly criticized dictator Robert Mugabe. Mtukudzi prefers to look in personal subjects. For his most recent album Sarawoga he drew on a sad source. The album title means 'left alone' and is the first album since his son Sam died in a car
… accident in 2010. The singer commemorates his son (who was also a musician) with his beautiful voice, a bit hoarse and loaded with a sad undertone. Mtukudzi accompanies himself on the acoustic guitar and that results in a beautiful listening album with not only sad music. His songs also offer a hopeful look to a brighter future. (PdK)more
