After making five intensive theater programs, cabaret artist Hans Teeuwen took a different approach and presented himself as a jazz singer in his show Hans Teeuwen Zingt. He then went to England in 2008 to do a theater tour and to perform at London's Leicester Square Theater. This DVD contains a registration of his English-language show, in which he mixes fragments from Dutch theater programs with
… new finds. His shameless and absurd humor already makes the charismatic comedian in the Netherlands a controversial figure, in England his theater shows also evoke fierce reactions. Teeuwen's intense, bizarre and surrealistic twists and turns of thoughts, strange facial expressions and the continuous sabotaging of the audience's expectations are feared or praised. The excellent musician starts the show with piano playing that gradually turns into a jazz scat. In addition to sing-a-long songs like 'Base-ball-bat' and Nostradamus, Teeuwen performs magic tricks and puppet shows (Sock Ronnie), makes spastic dances and poems, tells imaginative stories (Dwight the Fireman, Ogebiedoebie) and happily sprinkles with shocking sexual associations.
