The peak of Gerard Cox's singing career has already been many decades behind us and from 1994 Gerard Cox appeared as Jaap Kooiman in the series Toen Was Geluk Heel Gewoon. When the series ended, Cox sat at home. According to ex-husband and colleague Joke Bruijs, Gerard spent all day reading and feeding his chickens. Gerard collapsed and Bruijs thought that was a shame. So the duo went back into the
… theater with a new piece and a new CD was released. Well, Eentje Dan does not contain new songs, but Cox's favorite songs, re-recorded. Much was written by himself, but it also includes two songs by Jules de Corte and a song by Kris Kristofferson. You can clearly hear that Cox is well over seventy, but his singing is certainly still acceptable. He is accompanied by great musicians such as Jean Louis van Dam, Frits Landesbergen and Jeroen de Rijk and that makes this record much more than acceptable. (HF)more
