Holland's great troubadour Lenny Kuhr has of course sung about love before, but with the album Love Song she explicitly pays tribute to this inexhaustible source of textual and musical inspiration. With her warm deep voice she sings about how love can hurt, but above all how simple loving can be and makes life a party. Kuhr composed music based on lyrics by herself and her husband Rob Frank. … also set the tone of Jan Engelman's poem Vera Janacopoulos and three flowery poems by Federico Garcia Lorca in a translation by Bart Vonck. Kuhr recorded the songs live (without an audience) at the Koningstheater in Den Bosch with her regular accompanists guitarist Cor Mutsers, bassist Mischa Kool and percussionist Arthur Lijten. The moving song Regret, about a mother's love for her stuck son, she wrote in the television program Ali B Op Volle Toeren in response to a song by rapper Keizer.
