Barbra Streisand's phenomenal vocals and personality are a great source of inspiration for singers all over the world. Singer and theater personality Karin Bloemen was and is a big fan of hers. Already at the age of fourteen she sang Barbra's songs, while cycling through the meadows. In Bloemens many theater programs occasionally songs passed that were previously sung by Streisand. It had to happen
… sometime; an album devoted entirely to Streisand repertoire. Covering Streisand is a bit dangerous, because who can match her? Nobody. That is why this tribute has become a double album with the English songs on the first disc and the same songs translated into Dutch by Friso Wiegersma, Koen van Dijk, Onno Kosters and Ab Westervaarder on the second disc. The new arrangements, performed by the Metropole Orchestra under the direction of conductor Dick Bakker, are particularly beautiful and atmospheric. (SvdP)more
