An idiosyncratic personality, a quick tongue, humor and a lightning-fast reaction time: Sjaak Bral from The Hague has never needed any training. Bral's qualities made him extremely successful as a stand-up comedian. He founded the comedy company A Night Of Comedy, an organization that provides comedy shows throughout the Netherlands and was co-creator of A Big Night Of Comedy, an annual comedy
… festival held in The Hague. As a great advocate of the Hague language, Bral twice organized a Hague Dictation and wrote the modern spelling guide Het Groene Geile Boekie with the Rueb brothers. The versatile Bral also writes columns and books and regularly appears on radio and television, including as a panel member of the satirical consumer program Ook Dat Nog. On the double album At Full Size, a recording of Bral's fourth one-man show from 2004, we hear him talk in a lightning-fast Hague about the PABO guide, traffic jams, Knetemann gym, vegetarian food and Senseo coffee. Bral interacts with the public a lot and his jokes are often topical, ad rem and resourceful. (SvdP)more
